ChoreGuard ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of families who use our app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information We Collect

We collect only what's necessary to make ChoreGuard work:

Account information: Email address and password (encrypted) when you create an account.
Family data: Children's names, avatars (emoji selections), birthdays, and bedtime settings that you enter.
Task data: Chore and homework descriptions, completion status, proof text, and approval records.
Photo proof: Photos submitted by children as proof of task completion. These are stored securely and accessible only to family members.
App preferences: Which apps you choose to lock or allow for each child.
Goals and rewards: Goal titles, descriptions, milestones, reward names, and star balances.

Information We Do NOT Collect

Location data
Browsing history
Contact lists
Call logs or messages
App usage data or screen time analytics
Any data from apps that are locked or managed
Advertising identifiers

How We Use Your Information

Your data is used solely to provide ChoreGuard's functionality:

Sync tasks, approvals, and family data across devices in real-time
Enforce app restrictions based on parent-configured settings
Display task history, streaks, and reward progress
Send push notifications about task submissions and approvals (if enabled)

Data Storage & Security

All data is stored securely using Google Firebase, which provides encryption in transit and at rest. Only authenticated family members can access their family's data. Each family's data is isolated — no family can see another family's information.

Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

ChoreGuard is designed for use by families with children. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):

Children's accounts are created and managed by parents/guardians
We do not collect personal information directly from children beyond what the parent provides
Photo proof is submitted under parental supervision and accessible only to family members
Parents can delete their child's data at any time by removing the child from their family
We do not serve advertising to children or share children's data with third parties

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Google Firebase: Authentication, database, and cloud storage (Firebase Privacy Policy)
Apple FamilyControls: Used on iOS to enforce app restrictions. Apple's Screen Time API processes data locally on the device; we do not receive or store any Screen Time usage data.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Your data is shared only with other members of your family within ChoreGuard.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at choreguard.help@gmail.com. When a family account is deleted, all children's data, tasks, goals, and photo proof are permanently removed.

You have the right to:

Access your data
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your account and all data
Export your data

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of ChoreGuard after changes constitutes
